You may have notice some small changes to the site, regarding the sidebar. I've added a recently read entry, where I will be able to list articles I have read in the past days, and would like to share. I've also added appropriate buttons for the newsfeeds, and for the WC3 Validator. If you take the time to check my site, you may notice it is Valid XHTML Transitional 1.0. =) I'm very happy with being able to get that out of the way, and I must say the book by Zeldman is helping tremendously.
So now, it's time to build the new design through CSS, and use a stylesheet switcher so any visitor can choose his / her styling. I also plan to interface my webcam image somewhere in this design, but I'm still debating about placement and execution. Can I use a JavaScript popup in XHTML? It will be tricky, but I think it may be able to be done. I've also got to update some WordPress files, as some changes have been made since the .72 release (some bugs I helped work out, so I feel special). One of these bugs was in the Link Manager, as you can see if you mouse-over one of my links, the last updated date is a little skewed. (1969!?)
Another thing I have been pondering, is running a small contest for the people who do view this site, and are interested in web standards. I have a small webpage that I use as my homepage locally on my PC, as my starting point. It hasn't been updated (design wise) in months, and I have a lot that I must complete in the coming weeks, so I thought maybe there would be some interest in having a little contest where people can redesign the page. Redesigned with web standards in mind, of course. It would have to be valid in XHTML, CSS and such to be able to be declared a winner, and would also have to be a slick design. Do you think there would be any interest in this sort of contest? Please comment with your thoughts.
