Deconstructing, Building, and Now, Hosting.
For a long time, scootr.ca has been the home for my various passions. It started with the ScootTalks podcast, but over time, it became a bit of a digital garage sale for my interests in gaming, development, and sports. If you’ve been following along, you might have noticed things felt a bit disconnected. I certainly did.
Today, that changes. I’m thrilled to officially relaunch scootr.ca with a new design, a new focus, and a new mission that finally connects all the dots.
The New Philosophy: Deconstructing Everything
For years, I’ve been driven by a deep-seated curiosity to understand how things work. Whether it was my time as a project manager in digital communications, my fascination with sports analytics, my love for game mechanics, or my recent dive back into hands-on development, the common thread has always been the same: deconstruction. I love taking things apart—a career, a piece of software, a game’s design—to understand the systems that make them tick.
The new scootr.ca is built entirely around this idea. It’s no longer just a collection of hobbies; it’s a unified hub for exploring, deconstructing, and building compelling experiences.
So, What’s New?
- A Unified Hub: The site has been re-architected to give all my passions—Development, Gaming, and Podcasting—an equal and connected home.
- Introducing “The Lab”: The old blog is gone. In its place is The Lab, the new central home for all my written work. This is where I’ll post deep-dive game analyses, technical articles, and detailed show notes for the podcast.
- A Fresh Coat of Paint: You’ll notice a new logo and a new visual identity across the site. The “Deconstructor” logo represents the core mission of taking things apart to see how they’re made.
A New Way to Build: Introducing scootR Hosting
As I’ve dived deeper back into development, I’ve been reminded of how frustrating and impersonal finding good web hosting can be. You’re often forced to deal with confusing plans, aggressive upsells, and faceless support tickets.
I wanted to create an alternative.
As part of this relaunch, I’m excited to announce that I am now offering simple, reliable, and personal web hosting directly through scootr.ca.
This is for the creators, the freelancers, and the small businesses who want a powerful home for their website without the corporate runaround. It’s built on the same rock-solid infrastructure I use for my own projects, but the support comes directly from me—a developer who understands your goals.
What I’m offering:
- Simple, Tiered Plans: Three straightforward plans to host one, two, or three domains. No hidden fees, just predictable pricing.
- Personal Support: When you have a question, you email me directly. No support tickets, no waiting on hold.
- Full Control: You get full SFTP access to manage your site, with optional add-ons for SSH access and a WordPress Kickstart service if you need a hand getting set up.
My goal is to provide a hosting service that I would want to use myself: one that’s transparent, powerful, and backed by a real person. You can learn more and see the plans on the new Hosting Page.
The Journey Continues
This relaunch is more than just a redesign; it’s a commitment to a clearer vision. It’s about creating a space to explore the blueprints of the things that fascinate us.
Thank you for being a part of this community. I invite you to explore the new site, check out the hosting services, and let me know what you think. The deconstruction is just beginning.
